About Us
Our Mission
Hotspot Innovations exists to change how firefighters think about their equipment. We challenge outdated gear and build adaptable systems that improve performance in real conditions—because accepting limitations in the field is no longer good enough.
The Story Behind Hotspot Innovations & ARAS
Hotspot Innovations didn’t start in a boardroom.
It started on the fireline.
In 2008, our founder began his career as a seasonal firefighter with Cal Fire in San Diego. Like everyone else at the time, he was handed the standard solution for radio carry: a bulky chest harness you threw on en route to a fire. It held your radio, your accessories, and a lot of heat. It worked—but it was cumbersome, restrictive, and far from ideal.
As the fire service evolved, so did our gear. The chest harness quietly faded away, replaced by fixed hip-mounted radio holders on webgear. Simpler. Lighter. Easier. And for a while, good enough.
Until it wasn’t.
In 2023, while serving as a Division Supervisor on a large incident, a problem became impossible to ignore. Constant channel changes, frequent movement, shifting roles—yet the radio stayed locked in one fixed position. Too low to manage quickly. Too rigid for a job that is anything but. The solution wasn’t another fixed holder in a different spot. The solution was something the industry hadn’t considered yet.
Adaptability.
Prototyping began with a simple idea: move the radio to the shoulder strap for better access. But the real breakthrough came with a realization—no single mounting position works for every task, every role, or every moment on the fireground. Firefighting is dynamic. Our communication lifeline should be too.
That realization became the foundation of ARAS.
In 2025, the Adaptable Radio Attachment System was born—designed from the ground up to evolve with the firefighter. One radio holder. Multiple attachment options. Seamless transitions. No compromises.
With ARAS, your radio can ride on the hip for long hikes, snap to the shoulder strap for rapid channel changes, move to a duty belt for non-webgear use, mount magnetically in or on a vehicle, or configure for a shoulder sling—all using the same core system. The ARAS Core is the heart of it all, while each attachment plays a specific role in supporting how you operate in that moment.
This isn’t about adding more gear.
It’s about making gear work smarter.
Hotspot Innovations exists for one reason: to design solutions that match the complexity, adaptability, and intelligence required of modern firefighters. Built by firefighters. Tested in the field. Refined by real-world experience.
As the fire service continues to evolve, we believe our gear should evolve with it.
Adapt. Secure. Perform
